Quincy Catholic Schools Announces New Bylaws to Strengthen Collaboration and Mission

Quincy, IL – [9/17/2025] – The four pastors of Quincy’s Catholic parishes with elementary schools, together with Bishop Thomas John Paprocki, have signed new bylaws that mark an essential step in the future of Catholic education in Quincy.

These bylaws bring together Blessed Sacrament, St. Dominic, St. Francis Solanus, and St. Peter Schools to establish Quincy Catholic Schools (QCS) as a unified entity, formalizing collaboration among the four parishes. This ensures consistency in governance while preserving the distinct identities of each parish school. Quincy Catholic Schools will now be positioned to apply for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, strengthening opportunities for support and growth.

“This is a milestone for our Catholic school community,” said Dr. Chris Gill, Chief Administrative Leader of Quincy Catholic Schools. “By working together as one, we can share both the challenges and the blessings across all four campuses, ensuring the long-term vitality of Catholic education in Quincy.”

Key points of the new structure include:

  • Stronger Governance: The pastors of the four parishes, with a diocesan representative, form the Corporate Board of QCS, overseeing budgets, mission, and leadership, while the School Board will focus on curriculum, operations, and strategic planning.
  • Unified Operations: All four schools will operate collectively, creating fairness in both risk and prosperity.
  • Stable Campuses: There are no plans to make changes to existing school facilities. Each parish school will continue as a Pre-K through 8th-grade campus.
  • Shared Mission: Together, the schools can focus on strengthening Catholic identity, academic excellence, and long-term sustainability. They will also work towards a shared curriculum structure that works to fulfill our mission.

“This new structure strengthens our ability to serve families and students, while also preserving the parish and community identities that make each of our schools unique,” added Dr. Gill. Our mission is clear: to form the next generation of Catholic disciples of Christ, in communion with families and parishes, through spiritual growth and academic excellence.
